Letter from Interim CEO

4th September, 2018

Dear Parents / Carers

Welcome back for the new school year!  I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself formally and talk about when and where you will be able to meet me in person.

I was seconded on the 30th August to work with the schools and the board to manage the Trust on a day to day basis. I am delighted to be here, and my primary goal is to support the head teachers to provide the leadership and stability that delivers the best educational environment for the children.

I have come from the Boleyn Trust, which has seven large primary schools in Newham, and am currently head teacher at Tollgate Primary School, rated Outstanding by Ofsted. I hope my track record gives you confidence that we can work together to move the schools forward.

I very much want to hear from you all. I will be visiting all the schools this week and will be in the playgrounds of each school at various times at the start and end of every day. I am also holding a series of parents’ meetings – two at each school, to hear from you. These will be held at the following times and schools:

Longshaw: 5th September- 3:45pm and 6pm

Chingford: 6th September: 3:45pm and 6pm

Winston Way: 10th September: 3:45pm and 6pm

Whittingham: 11th September: 3:45pm and 6pm

I hope these provide the opportunity for some open discussions on issues faced at each school. I know there are other questions you might have, so I wanted to update you where we can on those. We appreciate this is not an easy time for parents/carers but we are confident that the steps we are taking will build on the schools’ strengths and address their weaknesses. This will place them on a much surer footing this term.

I am committed to open and honest communication. We will keep you updated as things progress and I very much look forward to meeting all of you very soon.

Your sincerely

 Tom Canning
